Erin Bennett -I am very excited to be part of the Pittsburgh Fellows Program this year. My hometown is Poland, Ohio. I have a wonderful and loving family with a younger brother and sister and parents whom I greatly admire and respect. I recently graduated from Grove City College with a degree in molecular biology and psychology. While there I was a member of the women's tennis team and participated in Beta Beta Beta National Science Honorary.

During my time with the fellows, I will be working at ECI Telecom as an intern in the order entry/manufacturing department. This year I am excited and grateful to explore possible business opportunities while growing in my faith with the Lord.

Andrea Brigham - I am incredibly excited to be chosen as one of seven Pittsburgh Fellows this year! After spending four years at the University of Pittsburgh, I graduated with a degree in Business and Psychology. I was born and raised in New Castle, Pennsylvania and I am very close with my parents, my sister Carissa, and my two brothers, Adam and Zachary. I came to know Christ when I was twelve years old and spent most of my high school years going to church with a friend’s family. It wasn’t until I went to college that I decided to completely surrender myself to the Lord. The past four years I have been growing closer to Christ while seeking His will for my life.  After spending four months traveling around the world with a study abroad program called Semester at Sea, I found that my passion was adoption.

My dream is to travel the world and be an importer & small business owner while also running a non-profit geared at matching up domestic orphans with solid Christian couples who desire to adopt them. I know that God strategically placed me in this program to equip me for a successful future.

The Pittsburgh Fellows is an amazing program and I am thrilled to embark on this journey for the next nine months. I am currently working in Product Development for TeleTracking Technologies in downtown Pittsburgh while also taking classes at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA.

Jen Hayes - I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and was blessed with wonderful Christian neighbors who guided my family and me for the 13 years we lived there.  While in Virginia Beach, my family attend a Baptist church and later a nondenominational church, exposing me to just some of the various forms in which God’s love shapes and directs communities. I graduated from Frank W. Cox High School and went on to attend the University of Virginia.

There, I majored in Political and Social Thought, writing my thesis on fairness and nuclear power. As a student, I became involved with the Anglican College Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church and the campus group Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. I also spent much of time editing a research journal and volunteering at the local hospital.

During my time as a fellow, I will work for Jim Funk in the gas and oil business. I am excited at the opportunity to simultaneously extend my knowledge of energy technology and markets and live in an intentional Christian community with the other fellows and the members of St. Stephen’s. I love working with children and introducing people to the joy of dance and yoga.  I plan to attend law school in the fall of 2009.

Kyle Matthews - I am originally from West Chester PA where I grew up with my parents and younger sister. I attended Shippensburg University and graduated with a degree in Business with an Entrepreneurship concentration. I love reaching out to young people and was a resident assistant through most of my time at Shippensburg.  That experience helped me to grow as a person and challenged me on a daily basis.  On top of that most people that meet me find that I am passionate about cars, rock climbing, and Walker, Texas Ranger. I learned about the Pittsburgh Fellows program from a wonderful friend in CCO at Shippensburg who thought I should look into the program. After much thought and prayer, I found myself headed for Pittsburgh.

Having arrived, I started working at ChemDAQ Inc. At ChemDAQ I am involved in sales and marketing, but as this is a small business I find myself working on a variety of tasks. This is great for someone with an entrepreneurial background. I enjoy knowing that what I do makes a difference, and I hope that this remains the same in my work at St. Stephens. This year I will be involved by leading a high school boy’s bible study, participating in student worship, and other activities with the Fellows. I anticipate a great year for both real world experience and personal growth.

Mary Majchrowisc - I recently graduated from Grove City College with a degree in marketing. My number one passion (besides God and family) is running, so I was privileged to be a part of Grove City’s varsity track & field team. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life after graduation. I’m from San Jose, CA, so I thought I might want to go back there to be near my family, but at the same time, I didn’t want to leave my friends here in Pittsburgh. I also had no direction as far as a career was concerned (i.e. I think I want to be a physical therapist, but I have a marketing degree), and my spiritual life was lacking, to say the least.

I was introduced to the Pittsburgh Fellows Program and immediately decided that it was the perfect fit. It would provide me with a safe environment to figure out what I want to do while at the same time offering me the spiritual guidance I need. I am excited to have the opportunity to grow both as a businesswoman and as a woman of God this year.

Kacia Hillesland Scott Metzger - I am very grateful for the grace and direction God has shown me throughout my life.  Most recently, I can see His hand guiding my steps as He clearly led me to the Pittsburgh Fellows Program this year and an exciting internship downtown at Zamagias Properties.

I come from Pittsburgh, PA where my father serves as senior pastor of a local church. I have always been close to my parents and three younger sisters. My mother homeschooled me and all of my sisters—something I am thankful for and look at as one of the greatest blessings in my life. After high school, I took a part-time job and went to my local community college for a time before transferring to Geneva College where I finished my undergraduate degree in May of 2008.

I love being involved in the performing arts (singing, acting, dancing, etc…) both as a performer and an audience member. I also enjoy public speaking, reading, and learning new, interesting things. This is why I am confident the Pittsburgh Fellows will be a wonderful experience. I look forward to continuing my education in the classroom, in church ministry, and in the corporate world. I am excited to network and gain experience in such a broad range of activities within Pittsburgh, the city that I love and call home.

Andrew HunsickerLan Tu - I am so grateful that God has given me the opportunity to be part of the Pittsburgh Fellows this year. I grew up in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, with my wonderful parents and younger brother whom I love dearly. Since I was 15, I have been studying abroad in America - one year in Kansas, two years in Vermont, and then four years in Pennsylvania – thanks to my family and host-families for their supports and encouragements every step of the way. It was not until my junior year of high school when I attended the United Christian Academy in Vermont that I came to know the Lord Jesus and realized how much I needed Him as my Savior in life.

The last four years at Grove City College had truly been a valuable experience that allowed me to develop lasting relationships with people, challenge myself in different areas, and most important of all learn to grow stronger in my walk with Christ every day. While there, I was a member of the dance teams, marquettes, hand-bells, and Alpha Beta Tau sorority. I also had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Italy with a group of other students during one Easter break and studied in France for one semester . Last May, I graduated with a degree in International Business - Finance.

A few months ago, I had absolutely no idea what God wanted me to do with my life after college. Miraculously, He had led me to pursue the Pittsburgh Fellows program which was everything I was looking for. I came across this program in an email from Career Services at GCC and couldn’t be more thrilled to see God open a new door and show me exactly what He had in plan for me. I will be working for Hefren Tillotson Inc. in downtown Pittsburgh, doing financial planning and investment analysis. My passion is to go back to Vietnam after this program and work for an international firm where I could utilize my business and language skills as well as share Christ’s love with the people there. Christianity is not very common where I’m from, but I believe the this program will prepare me with the necessary skills to integrate my faith into the workplace and make a difference
