Daily Transformation

One verse that has been on my heart during the start of my Fellows year is Romans 12:2 (NLT): “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Every day God’s Word encourages me, through His power, to follow His ways and not the ways of the world.  As I follow His ways in my actions, I trust that, over time, God will also change my thoughts.  Being a Fellow has really helped this process by providing me with a committed Christian community and the opportunity to worship and serve with St. Stephen’s Church.

I have seen God moving in many ways since the program has started (crazy how it is already two months in)!  First, this year has already become a time of strengthening and developing spiritual disciplines.  I have been identifying time that God has given me throughout the day to spend more time with Him through prayer and reading the Word, but I am also being led to practice fasting and observing a real sabbath.  While change might not be outwardly visible on a day-to-day basis, I know that by the time May comes around I will have a closer relationship with Jesus.

My spiritual growth has also been supported through serving with DT (Discipleship Training for middle and high school students) on Sunday nights. The fall series of teaching is on spiritual disciplines, and I’ve been privileged to learn about a different discipline each week.  This learning takes place through the teaching we all receive and also from the work I do with our middle school boys small group.  It is very encouraging to see these middle school boys actively engaged in small group discussions after the teaching.  Additionally, it has been awesome to get to know other leaders and gain wisdom from them.  I am very excited to continue to learn and develop daily practices that will help me discern more about God’s will for me.

It has felt like a long first two months and a short first two months all at the same time; I am excited to dive into all of the opportunities that this upcoming season will bring!

Peace out!
