As the Fellows program nears the end, I have been thinking about how this program has impacted my life so far. I first think about where I spend the most time in this program: my job placement, Bible studies, and professional development classes. These have all been positive experiences for me.
The first area I reflect on is at my job placement. I am happy to say that I have felt more content here than any other place. Throughout the months here, I am always learning new things every week, meeting and working with many different teams, and contributing work and effort in a meaningful way that is recognized and appreciated. In speaking with the owner of the company, I was told that placing Christian values in the workplace is a way in which success and employee satisfaction can be achieved and how values are carried on throughout.
Next are the many opportunities we have with Bible studies. I feel that I get a much better understanding of what I am reading when I have others to discuss it with. These group studies outside of church help to reaffirm my faith and are something which I would like to continue in other groups after my time here.
The last area in which I reflect on is the professional development classes in which we have taken throughout the program. These classes give me a new perspective on how I should excel at work while also not compromising values. These classes teach me new things, brings back up topics in which I was aware of, and gives new perspective on other ideas and practices which I already do. A talk that had stood out to me was one on drawing lines on when to not do things in which I disagree with and may be in conflict with my faith. It has made me consider how I react in certain situations and evaluate how I go about growing in a company. Overall, this year has been very positive and engaging so far, and I will surely miss all of these three areas when I am finished.
